Travel by air-conditioned minibus to Living Legends - home to some favourite retired champion race horses such as Fields of Omagh, Silent Witness, Rogan Josh, Brew, Paris Lane, Efficient, Who Shot The Barman (NZ), Redkirk Warrior (GB) and Peniaphobia (IRE), Tom Melbourne, Fawkner and Almandin. Enjoy the opportunity to meet, pat and feed the horses and talk to the stable hands that care for them.
Living Legends is part of Woodlands Park and is modelled closely on the Home of Rest for Horses in the United Kingdom. Like the Home of Rest, they aim to support equine research, education and training to benefit horses of all ages and breeds. Special emphasis, however, is given to the care of older horses.
After your meet and greet session with the horses, relax in the beautiful, historic homestead of Woodlands Historic Park with a light lunch and some time to explore the on-site museum before travelling back to your cruise ship or hotel.

The perfect day for a horse-lover short on time in Melbourne as you travel in air-conditioned comfort to Living Legends.
Located within Woodlands Park, Living Legends is modelled closely on the Home of Rest for Horses in the United Kingdom. Living Legends is home to over 20 retired champion race horses from Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. You'll get to meet, feed and pat favourites such as Fields of Omagh, Silent Witness, Rogan Josh, Brew, Apache Cat, The Cleaner, Paris Lane, Efficient, Who Shot The Barman (NZ), Redkirk Warrior (GB) and Peniaphobia (IRE), Tom Melbourne, Fawkner and Almandin. Enjoy the opportunity to meet, pat and feed the horses and talk to the stable hands that care for them. Or pay your respects at the graveside of Legends who are no longer living: Might and Power, Chief De Beers, Doriemus, Better Loosen Up, Regal Roller and more.
After your meet and greet session with the horses, relax in the beautiful, historic Woodlands Homestead with a light lunch served with your choice of a hot or cold drink. This is followed by some free time to explore the on-site museum or surrounding park before travelling back to your cruise ship or hotel.
*Horses at Living Legends are occasionally sent out to 'work' on modelling jobs or media shoots, therefore we cannot always guarantee the horse you most want to meet will be ‘home’.

Tamara greeted us at our hotel after we organized a pickup from there.
Tamara ran a well-organized and relaxing day which we really enjoyed. The Homestead and the horses was so peaceful. It was a pleasure to see these wonderful horses enjoy a well-earned retirement in this beautiful property amongst the local birdlife.
We started the day with the most wonderful morning tea of a cuppa, scone, cream and jam then after our walk with the horses, back on board the bus to Gisborne Peak Winery for some good wine tasting and a selection of wood fired pizzas for lunch.
Then onto the Holgate Brewery for beer tasting and relaxing at the pub with live music. A wonderful afternoon.
I would highly recommend Tamara and her team as it was a wonderful tour, very well organized with passionate people showing us horses, wine and beer.

“Phillip and I would like to extend our thanks to Tamara for hosting a lovely day on Sunday Aug 6 on the Horses, Wine and Beer Tour.
Tamara was most welcoming, knowledgeable and well organised from the moment she arrived at Federation Square.
The weather was not too kind on Sunday but Tamara ensured we didn’t tangle with any inclement weather during the paddock tour of the Racing Champions, as she followed us with the bus in case the heavens opened up (which they did at the last paddock).
Our small group was quite friendly and got on well throughout the day and enjoyed Tamara’s commentary and highlights of Melbourne and our surrounds especially for the interstate and overseas visitors on the bus.

The trip was superb again. This is the fourth time 2 of us have been on this trip in the last 10 years and the first time for the other guy. The trip is great, from seeing all the great horses at Living Legends and eating the massive scones, jam and cream for morning tea, then venturing to the lovely winery at Gisborne near Mt Macedon, trying their lovely wines and having very tasty wood fired pizzas. Then to top it off, we tasted 8 of Holgate brewerys award winning beers. I have to thank Tamara for being a great
hostess and of course Anthony for the previous 3 trips. We will be back again in the next few years as it gives us a relaxing day between the major Flemington races,

SUN STUD is a highly respected thoroughbred stud operation based in Victoria and featuring a 10-strong roster of stallions, first class facilities and highly professional management.
First established at Kerrie in Victoria’s Macedon Ranges in 1998 as Eliza Park, the farm was purchased by the Sun International Group in 2012.
The Kerrie farm which we will visit, has been developed into a world class stud facility, standing stallions, building a commercial broodmare band and offering services and facilities to racing enthusiasts.
